Research procedure

Research procedure:

The survey was conducted to find out current practices of teaching English at secondary level in Gujarati medium schools. It is a brief scenario of the survey procedure and the tools applied by the researcher;

The following three tools are adopted for the research.

1. Questionnaire
2. Personal interviews and
3. Classroom teaching observation.

Questionnaire:

The researcher has used this tool to analyze the part of his research. He has used both types of questions open as well as closed.
Personal interviews:
This is concrete way chosen the researcher for his research because interviews make the research alive, orally and face to face. For the requirement s researcher has formed 10 English teachers and 10 students. The questions have been asked in Gujarati and the answers to which are recorded.


Observation:

Observation seen in the research is in such a way as make sure that they are valid and reliable. As an observer the researcher has concentrate on several essential items of teaching.
Analysis interpretation:

Conducting the manner of analysis the researcher has obtained results at various levels.
ü In teaching of grammar according to 80% of the students, teacher uses deductive grammar.
ü In method 80% of the students clarified that teacher uses grammar translation method.
ü In regards to activities 70% of the students opine that teacher assigns individual work by giving some exercises.
ü Asking about sessions for grammar teaching, answer is 1 or 2 period per week, according to 60% of the students.
